A 3 month marriage between a deputy county attorney and a former attorney in the County Legal Defenders Office ends ugly. Now, Deputy County Attorney Roger Contreras, also a candidate for Superior Court Judge, is fighting in that very court to suppress potentially career damaging email and voice recorded accusations from the ex-wife, delivered by her directly to Contreras' immediate supervisors. A local alternative media publisher's Public Information Request (while vetting the judge candidate) led to this trial and our rare video taping of the entire trial procedure in Cochise County Superior Court on June 6, 2012. UPDATE: In a ruling dated July 30, 2012, Judge Soto found that the items Contreras sued to suppress (written and telephonic recordings of accusations against him that were originally directed to his employer) are public records, and that Contreras failed to show a good reason for keeping them secret.
